Debts Only fraction of Dubai Assets - Report by Isaac John

DUBAI - Dubai can and will meet all its refinancing obligations as its sovereign debts represent only a fraction of the assets of the government and affiliate companies estimated at Dh1.3 trillion, Mohamed Alabbar, the head of the newly formed The Advisory Council, said on Monday.
Declaring that Dubai had risen to the challenge of managing the new economic realities, Alabbar clarified that Dubai’s borrowing was not used to cover state expenditures or fuel consumption, but was to fund long-term, risk-free infrastructure development.

He said the total value of the assets of the government and affiliate companies in Dubai was well over Dh1.3 trillion ($350 billion) while their aggregate debt obligations stood at Dh288 billion ($80 billion).

“Currently, the Dubai Government’s sovereign debt obligations stand at Dh37 billion ($10 billion). While our key sovereign assets are currently being evaluated, I can give you a rough estimation of their value, being over Dh330 billion ($90 billion). And this does not include our airports, bridges and the Metro. At the same time the total debt obligations of affiliate companies stand at Dh256 billion ($70 billion), compared with assets valued at Dh950 billion ($260 billion).”

But I’m not too sure as to how much of the old man’s advice they actually take because I am a trifle casual where the “follow up” is concerned. However, I love them dearly. Media Slips up...

When Media select ads to insert, I think they should ensure that the advertiser gets maximum benefit, in terms of visual impact and placement, all towards consumer proximity. Sometimes the message gets diluted or even spoiled when similar looking ads appear in the same page or prominent somewhere in the same newspaper.

Today, like yesterday there was a 4 Fpg-Campaign of gowealthy, (one ad, shown above). in KT, placed in alternate pages. There were two resembling Fpgs, in terms of look and feel-predominantly Red colour, were also there...Spring and Dune (See above). It could have been compromised if its a one-of-ad.. but I wish one advertiser who had given 4 page campaign should have got the privilege.

I think Media should be more aware of insertion since it results a mix up in readers' mind... for nothing.. but advertising reaches nowhere.

(b). love the idea.
think it would have been stronger if there was a way of showing the pack without the usual bottom right hand corner shot.
could it have been shot in a way so it was all in one, a slight angle? i dont know... thats the only thing that weakens it for me though.

(c). Cool. Just for the visual, I think the fingers didn't need to go that deep. Good ad, love the idea.

(d). A little forced, who dips their fingers into a can like that? My guess is only the Art Director...

2a) Unlike the hovercraft pathfinder ad, this (dog ad above) one is quite humorous. The same comment: targeted to traveler who wants everything but impossible.
2b). Dude. Bad idea!! Tie your dog to your car?! That's almost animal abuse. Not something you would want to run publicly. People would actually try that! Noooooo. Please. :( Nice at trying 'the other features', but I'm sure there are others you can pull out of your hat.
3a). good. it reminds me back to future
3b). As if there's only one way to work around a product? Such a lame and narrow-minded comment... The fact they deny having this feature makes this ad way better than the mentioned H3 tv ads... they show you something as if it's possible which off course isn't...
