Rattling thru Gulfnews: Metro is taking Shape rapidly......Woolmer died (Very sad, sorry...deliberately I put this as second, even tho I saw it first).....UAE's GDP surges ahead non oil sectors contribution jumbs 77.3% to Dhs 376b in 2006...

Advertising- Newspaper

1. Hydra Ad: (This has been appearing for the last one week... first I thought just another property ad , slowly I started liking the ad.. Unlike the so called bash-something-out ads of that kind, they used black and white image.. smthing left for us colouring.. and the look also classy and the OTS value is much higher... I think if you are doing something in the clutter, in order to avoid the blind spot, frequent insertions of the same ad would fetch the required result. (if there's smthing in it). Otherwise it's futile exercise trying different imageries.



2. Honda Ad: Very childish look.. The car looks like a toy. and the model is like one mascot used in 'comfort' ads.



3. Ajman Corniche Ad: There were teasers for this ad before.... hm.. ok.



4. Qatar Airways Ad: A Promotion ad (Headline:If culture sounds like music to you, dance. ) Idea, again talk about the heritage, when we see the target segment from abroad, the easiest way to influence them. But I liked the design treatment.. the timezone and at the Indian zone, the arrow comes from down and ends at Chennai. Good ad.





Advertising- Outdoor

This ad (waseet)is being run across Dubai Mupies. I don't know, how the message would register. The typo is very small and wouldnt be able to catch it up,while passing by, especially when the brand name is not so popular among the crowd. and overall composition is very weak for an outdoor.




Advertising- AWARD EVENT
At Media city at 7.30
Got to see some brilliant works.. Addressing to the public, the chairman of the committee said, it's not only the great idea, todecide the award but the blilliant execution as well.
Point wise, satchi & satchi won Agency of the year, with maximum number of awards, followed by JWT and Team Y&R.
The event got over at 1045pm.
